Gallstones are another health problem faced by liquid protein dieters. This happens due to the formation of excess bile caused by rapid weight loss. The excess bile overloads the gallbladder and causes stones to form. Finally, liquid protein diets may cause menstrual cessation in women due to rapid weight loss. Therefore, if a woman begins to notice a gradual or sudden stop in her menstrual cycle, she should discontinue the diet and seek medical advice as soon as possible. A healthy meal plan will include lean sources of protein, reasonable portions of carbohydrates and fats, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. This will ensure the maintenance of weight loss after the liquid diet has been completed. Remember to add minerals and vitamins to the liquid protein drink. This can be done by mixing fruits and vegetables, which are low in calories and high in fiber. Some liquid protein powders may already contain vitamins and minerals, but it is still a good idea to mix fruits and vegetables in order to get more fiber and avoid any chances of constipation. While on the liquid protein plan it is important to drink 12 glasses of water per day. This will reduce the chances of dehydration. Another important point is to avoid excessive exercise, because fatigue may set in due to the reduction of caloric intake.
